Why cash contests are not allowed for Tamil Nadu residents
Recently, a law was passed by the state, which made placing bets or wagers on any online games illegal. Anyone found breaking this law can face a fine of up to ₹10,000 or can be imprisoned for up to 2 years, or both. The rationale of passing this law, according to the government, is to prevent individuals from getting addicted to such games and to prevent them from making financial losses. Since the law also covers `games of mere skills´, Dream11 too is included, and players from Tamil Nadu cannot add or withdraw money to their Dream11 account, and cannot use it to participate in paid contests.
Is Dream 11 unavailable only in Tamil Nadu?
In addition to the players from Tamil Nadu, people residing in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Sikkim, Nagaland, Odisha, and Assam are also not allowed to participate in cash contests, as the laws in these states are unclear regarding games that involve fees.
